Austria Proposal for a Supply Chain Act

In June 2023, a referendum was submitted to the Austrian National Council for a Supply Chain Act. The key aims of the referendum are to pass a supply chain law that guarantee human rights, labor, animal and environmental protection along the supply chain, as well as for products produced in Austria. The Referendum is now under review by the Committee on Economic Affairs, Industry and Energy, who will provide its report on the Act by February 2024.

  • Details of the Act are yet to be published. However, the intention stated is to "obligate companies and corporations to fully document and transparently disclose the production process, including the transport of goods.
